And I was like" What!!!!!????Go run away with these wafers!!!"..Yeah,these were the words I heard when I was standing with my best friend Animesh enjoying coffee and wafers.No..no..Animesh didnt say this...these "beautiful" words were put up by a small girl approx 5-6 years old standing close to me with her hand begging for some money.Though she went off,I kept thinking that either she knows about the "girlfriend-boyfriend" stuff at this young age or she has been taught to say that whenever she sees a girl and a boy standing together.I have a younger brother approx of her age and probably more exposed to "polluting things" like movies,TV serials,etc....but I am dead sure he will never put them in an affair when he sees any gal-boy together. So basically, there was a "training force" behind her.
Days passed by,I got admitted into a college and came down to Delhi....uhhhh...its a real busy city!!!!On a 1 metre square area..you will find 50 people rustling up and down.
It was a fine Saturday morning,I had some stuff lined up in the college so was getting ready.
"Shani Dev!!!!! Shani Dev!!!!!" A man wearing saffron clothes..uhh well not exactly wearing...basically wrapped up.... was trying to peep inside the house while he was shouting with these words.... and I saw my Aunt running up wid stuff like wheat flour, rice and some money to put in his saffron bag while he was still trying his best to have a look of the house.
"Uh!!! strange man!!!"..is all I said when my aunt came back. She told me that he is a holy fellow and made me feel sorry for my "stupid" words.
Well,,,holy fellow????some one trying to peep inside the house????Ah Well....none of my business!!!! and I picked my bag to board the bus..While I was walking down the streets,I could see many of these strange men roaming around in different streets...It appeared to me as if a whole group of these men starts up early in the morning and covers(investigate) each and every house.
Well...my sweet and "well maintained" blue-line bus was about to leave the bus stop...so I had to run to catch it..."Awesome!!!"I patted myself after stepping up on the bus....Its really an achievement to board a bus which is about to leave!!!!
I was peacefully listening to songs on my iPhone when somebody pulled my T Shirt...I was all set to slap him when I turned back and saw a kid standing besides me holding a small container with a black thing in it dipped in mustard oil..I removed my headphones and asked him"Kya?"...he said "Shani Dev!!" .............................................................. NOT AGAIN please.....
My bus almost stopped on my bus stop and I had to get down from the virtually stopped bus.Bus drivers in Delhi dont know that stopping a bus actually means speed should be zero.
I could safely reach my college without any more unpleasant surprises.
College was always so much fun for me.
On my way back to home,I saw an old bent lady, covering herself with rags, very lean asking for some money.I was moved by the adversities dawned upon her so I gave her money.
I felt so satisfied to help someone.
I came back home happily after committing my "biggest mistake."
Next working day,on my way to the bus stop,I felt that I was being followed.I looked back and saw a group of kids behind me...all in rags....and guess what?? the old lady whom I had pitied was hiding behind them so that I should not make out that she sent them......"So,she had a group of trainees with her????"
And these kids usually followed me every day until I was forced to change my route.
The other day I was waiting for the "worst traffic light" to go green in "so sweet blue line bus",looking outside at the "patient people" blowing unnecessary horns while I witnessed something astonishing.......
A girl was trying to retie a piece of white bandage having a red patch(to look like blood) around her "so fit and fine" fist. She headed on towards a car after finishing her dress up...and yeah!!! she was able to mint out money from him by showing her "badly wounded hand".She succeeded!!!
And events like that were witnessed almost daily.
So basically,it follows up like a marketing company. We give money to one,he feels motivated, the money given adds to his commission and he is awarded. He is made the trainer,he brings in 5 more kids..or even babies, inspires them to run this easy business, trains them and his trainees further mint out money from us by using their "appear wounded" techniques..they are inturn made the trainer and the cycle follows.....
So what do we do when we give money to one beggar-be it kid,a mom,a pregnant lady,an old bended person,a blind man (with his eyes looking at the sky), a virtually physically disabled person or even the people who come up with "Shani Dev"
We are actually training them to become trainers and bring in new beggars,to add to the already viscous circle of poverty in our country,to tell them "Hey man!!! theres an easy way of making money, why do you have to be bothered to work hard?"
Giving money or even food to beggars is depriving one more poor family of an "assured meal"...
Let us stop before we see more beggars than working people.
DONT FEED THEM!!! GOD HAS GIVEN THEM HANDS
